"Mom: We will be moving to Zambia next year." This announcement set the stage for a childhood defined by constant relocation and change. Moving from DR Congo to Zambia and beyond, I learned to adapt to new environments and forge connections, often finding it necessary to wear metaphorical masks—to blend in.

Gift’s childhood was defined by constant movement and change. Immersing himself in local languages further shaped his identity. Over time, he realized that many people share similar experiences, which has been a source of inspiration for his work. Creating characters adorned with diverse masks, each reflecting the different facets of our personalities that we develop to connect with the world around us.

His work, created through  pen scribbling, reflects the journey traveled. It embodies the uncertainty of where the roads may lead, illustrating that by stepping outside ourselves, we can gain a clearer perspective of the bigger picture. The painting medium captures the parallel of a calm and unified journey in life, inviting viewers to explore the beauty between these parallels of Cultural roots, human striving,  Alienation,  and interconnectedness.
